The Zeitung (morning, 1845), Herald (evening, 1879), and Revue (Sundays) are other German papers printed by one company. Outside of Philadelphia the oldest papers of significance in Pennsylvania are the Pittsburgh Gazette, first printed in 1786 and probably the primary newspaper revealed west of the Alleghanies, which in 1906 was consolidated with the Times (1879) to type the Gazette Times; and the Pittsburgh Post (1792; every day, 1842), one of the few influential Democratic papers published in Pennsylvania; the Pittsburgh Dispatch (1846) is a morning paper.
